Ingredients
  

  • 500 Gm All-Purpose Flour
  • 7 Gm Active Dry Yeast
  • 10 Gm Sugar
  • 5 Gm Salt
  • 300 Ml Warm Water
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil For Greasing

Optional Toppings

  • Sesame Seeds
  • Poppy Seeds
  • Everything Bagel Seasoning
  • Grated Cheese

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Combine the yeast mixture with the dry ingredients to form a dough.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 60 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 8 pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
  • Poke a hole in the center of each ball and stretch it to form a bagel shape.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and bring a pot of water to a boil.
  • Boil the bagels for 1 minute on each side, then transfer to a baking sheet.
  • Add your favorite toppings and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden.

Notes

  • Use warm water, not hot, to activate the yeast.
  • Boiling the bagels before baking is what gives them their signature chewy texture.
  • If you don’t have everything bagel seasoning, make your own using a mix of sesame seeds, dried onion, garlic, and salt.
  • For a shinier finish, brush the bagels with an egg wash before baking.
