Chocolate Ginger Pots de Crème
Equipment
- 4 Small Jars or Pots For serving the individual desserts.
- 1 Mixing bowl To mix the chocolate and cream.
- 1 Whisk To blend ingredients smoothly.
- 1 Saucepan For melting chocolate and cream.
- 1 Fine Sieve To strain the mixture.
Ingredients
- 200 Dark Chocolate
- 2 cups Heavy Cream
- 2 tbsp Fresh Ginger grated
- ¼ cup Sugar
- ½ tsp Vanilla Extract
- 4 Egg Yolks
- ½ cup Milk
- Optional Toppings: Whipped Cream, Shaved Chocolate, Crystallized Ginger
Instructions
- In a saucepan, heat the cream and milk over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
- Add the grated ginger to the cream and milk mixture and let it steep for about 5 minutes.
- Meanwhile, melt the dark chocolate in a separate bowl over simmering water or in the microwave.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar until smooth.
- Gradually add the hot cream mixture to the egg yolks, whisking constantly to prevent curdling.
- Strain the mixture to remove the ginger pieces.
- Stir in the melted chocolate and vanilla extract until smooth and fully combined.
- Pour the mixture into small jars or pots and let it set in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Optional: Top with whipped cream, shaved chocolate, or crystallized ginger for an extra touch.
