Ingredients

  • 4 cups Chex cereal rice or corn variety
  • ½ cup cookie butter
  • ½ cup chocolate chips milk or semi-sweet
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract optional
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips optional, for extra chocolatey goodness

Instructions

  • Melt the chocolate and cookie butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and cookie butter together. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth. You can also do this on the stove in a small saucepan over low heat.
  • Combine the cereal and coating: In a large mixing bowl, add the Chex cereal. Pour the melted chocolate-cookie butter mixture over the cereal and gently stir until the cereal is well-coated. Be careful not to break the cereal.
  • Coat with powdered sugar: Place the coated cereal into a large Ziploc bag or plastic bag. Add the powdered sugar and shake well until the cereal is evenly coated. If you like it extra sweet, you can add more powdered sugar to taste!
  • Chill and serve: Pour the puppy chow out onto a baking sheet or tray to cool for about 10 minutes. If you want to add some extra texture, sprinkle mini chocolate chips or any other mix-ins (like mini marshmallows) on top. Serve once cooled, or store in an airtight container for up to a week.
  • Enjoy! This sweet, crunchy treat is perfect for munching on throughout the day or serving at your next party!
